Julie update

It's finally here Julie got kicked out of the ICU for doing a good job. She was to the other side of the floor. That's one step closer to going home. She should be there about a week or so depending on how well she continues to do. We are so thankful to God for all of your prayers and support. We ask for continued prayer that Julie continue to progress, for the pain to subside and for the medications she on not to have any lasting side effects. Prayer for the girls to be at peace and know that GOD is in full control. For the Lord to comfort them as they miss mommy and daddy terribly. Thank you GOD, if it wasn't for you none of this would be possible. Lots of love Manny.

Update on Julie

Update: pray for nausea to go away, she feels sweaty hot on the outside all the time, she needs constant cooling off with washcloths. She still has one chest tube in which causes her lots of pain almost her only pain and it will NOT come out today, still a tiny leak. She is a fighter and continues to progress by leaps and bounds. This morning we had a situation. When she got all her meds at 9 she was also given afrin which was new but she had been complaining about congestion. So halfway through her pills one of her machines started beeping. This was a whole new beep we hadn't heard it before. These machines beep all the time mostly for no good reason, well I looked at Julie and she reached for her chest and said her heart was racing. I was alarmed and so was she. I called for the nurse who thought we were just looking for a blanket she went off and God steps in and brings her doctor at that moment. I immediately went and told him and he came in. Long
story shorter it happened half way through her meds shortly after the afrin so the doctor ordered medicine to slow her heart down. For those who understand it was 153. They gave her 5mg and it came down to 144 they gave 5 more mg and it came down to 132 he laughed saying she was a fighter. He ordered chest xrays "stat" and an immediate EKG. He believes it was the afrin he wasn't happy they gave it, he told Julie it's off the list won't happen again. They are going to give her blood pressure medicine and check her every 15 min for the next two hours. The cardiologist came in, asked questions said it wasn't life threatening and He would check back. Her number by then was down to 85. She's still doing great, she can WALK without oxygen it's incredible! When doctors ask what the level of her shortness of breath is from 0-10 zero being none she always answers zero, with a smile! She was actually walking last night, 3 laps around and kicked her left leg to
the side to get Manuel's butt. She's ready to train for the LA marathon! Please pray for good rest, she is having a very hard time being comfortable. She desires to just be comfortable!

Dear family and friends,
We have complete faith in God and know that He has been in full control of this situation. We do however have to do our part and this is where we need your help and understanding. Please know that Julie and I would love to visit and spend time with all of you but right now and for the next 3 months we can't do that. It is DETRIMENTAL that you understand the severity of lung transplantation. There are links on Julie's blog where you can read more. Julie's body will always fight these new organs as they are foreign to her. She must take lots of meds for the rest of her life to keep that from happening. The most common problems come from germs and some being something you might have just picked up and don't even realize you have. With this being flu season it makes it that much worse. This basically covers all people with needed exception for her caregivers. Please understand we love you all but have to say, no visiting for Julie right now. Please pray for
the girls during this time when they are going to have to understand how limited their activities will be since germs are so easiy picked up by little ones. This will be hard on all of us and it's a long road ahead but WELL WORTH IT and I trust you all would agree with me. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving Manny

Julie update

Today at 250pm Physical Therapy nurse Nancy had Julie do some leg exercises (knee highs, heel lifts and heel out & toe circles) and would be back tomorrow to take her for a walk. At 3 PM they did the swallow test she had 3x 1 tsp applesauce she totally swallowed all of it (yeah baby), 2x water sips and 1 cookie piece all swallowed. Nurse said "everything closing fast, amazing, perfect passed the test like no one else. Nurses were all very happy and amazed at how well she swallowed (I wish I could have been here they had a scope that showed it all, but I was spending much needed time with my girls) nobody usually does that well they said. Since she did so good they took out the nose tube as well as a groin tube. They put in a IV line in arm and took chest x-ray to make sure it's in the proper place, if it is they will remove the neck line (they did). Julie looks good but is really tired and is ready for some much needed rest. GOD bless Manny.

Julie update

Doctor came in and said Julie is looking great considering she came out of surgery 24 hrs ago. He wants her to work hard at taking deep breath and coughing up the secretions in her lungs. They have her sitting in a chair right now. She is tired and still in a lot of pain. Sometime this morning they plan on doing a swallow test to make sure that when she swallows everything goes into the stomach and not the lungs. If that goes well they will remove the small tube that she has in her nose leading to the stomach, and hopefully a couple of others she will no longer need. Please continue to pray for complete healing for the pain to subside and for the journey ahead. We serve such an awesome GOD and Im thankful for his love, grace and the many many beautiful people he has brought into our lives that have blessed us in so many ways. May GOD bless you all. Lots of Love Manny

Julie

Praise God Julie is out. Doc says everything went well and julie should be in ICU in an hour. Next few hours are important, continue to pray for complete healing and no complications. I am very tired and I appreciate everyone's concern and prayers for our family. We are blessed to have such a force of strength behind us and know we will need it still in the days and weeks ahead. It's been a long amazing day and I am thankful God is in control.

God is doing a work

God is doing a work...a major work...to the enemy this seems minor...but I can feel the rumble...He is speaking...He is teaching...He is in control...He WILL win...I know MY God...His Spirit is alive...His promises are true...His word is POWER...I can feel the rumble...the enemy creeps...the enemy sneeks...the enemy lies...the enemy causes terror...the enemy tries...BUT GOD!!!!! BUT GOD...since before the begining...WAS...and for all of history and currently...IS....and for all of eternity...WILL BE ever MORE powerful! NEVER needing to go anywhere near the word "try"!!! His LOVE is amazing, everlasting, eternal, bigger, peaceful, factual, just, and real!

GOD is doing a work...do you feel the rumble?

Yay!

So I'm excited because I washed dishes and made it!! I also managed to stand in front of my pantry and organize it by handing the B's (Bella) the stuff to throw away! Team work! The girls use their legs and I hand things to them! I have a goal...it is to drive. It's been 1 month since I last drove and I have to say that it's completly unacceptable for a 32 year old!! I have so much I want to do! Manuel is concerned and the reality is that he's right. I can feel how weak my legs muscles are and I just know that pushing the gas pedal would strengthen them. I know, I know, baby steps! Patoowee! I want to drive!!!!!

A good nights sleep

A good nights sleep is when it's soooo cold in your house and you put on your husbands flannel pj's and get in a warm bed! Ahhhh, eventhough they are huge on me (thank God for that) they are sooo comfy! This is what you learn when you no longer have any of your own clean clothes...he, he may as well start using his and ooooh look at that they're comfy!
